Surfside Beach Pier One Step Closer To Opening

The concrete pier has been under construction since December of 2020 after the former pier was destroyed by Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

The new Surfside Beach Pier is one step closer to opening.

The pier was inspected on Monday and ‘Collins Engineering’ gave the town a certificate of occupancy.

The certificate allows the pier’s tenants to move forward with plans and eventually submit them to the town council.

The concrete pier has been under construction since December of 2020 after the former pier was destroyed by Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

There have been many setbacks and delays but the certificate of occupancy hints that construction is nearing completion.
