The flight is timed for the best chance of safely viewing the solar eclipse at its peak, spending as much time as possible directly within the path of totality.

Want a up close and personal view of a total solar eclipse? A Delta flight this spring will provide that opportunity.

Delta Air Lines is offering a special flight from Austin, Texas to Detroit, Michigan on April 8.

Delta flight 1218 will be specifically operated with extra-large windows.

The flight is timed for the best chance of safely viewing the solar eclipse at its peak, spending as much time as possible directly within the path of totality.

The airline says it has five additional routes on the same day that will also serve up good chances to see the eclipse in the air.
