The state Senate passed the Compassionate Care Act with a 24-19 vote. The state House advanced a bill with a 68-44 vote.
The S.C. Senate and House advanced two separate bills.
The state Senate passed the Compassionate Care Act with a 24-19 vote. The bill allows local government to enact ordinances and regulations regarding medical marijuana establishments, including enabling them to prohibit those establishments from operating in their jurisdiction.
The bill is now heading to the S.C. House for debate.
Meanwhile, the state House advanced a bill with a 68-44 vote which will allow liquor stores to stay open on Sundays for a few hours if their local governments allow it.
The proposal faces one more routine approval vote before it heads to the Senate.
