Several Students Face Disciplinary Actions After Failing To Report Weapon

It's unclear how many students knew but each of them now faces disciplinary action as well.

Additional details have been revealed in relation to a Myrtle Beach Middle School student bringing a gun to school.

Last week, a student reported finding bullets near the cafeteria bathrooms. Shortly after, school staff witnessed another student acting strange and pulled them aside for a search.

Authorities discovered the student was in possession of a gun and a loaded magazine.

They now face criminal charges and a minimum of one-year expulsion as per state law.

It was revealed that several other students were aware of the gun and failed to report the weapon.

HCS is asking parents and guardians to speak with children about reporting anything they see or hear that could be dangerous to the school community.
