Judge Raises Bond For Detained Robeson County Teacher

The suspended high school teacher is accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a student.

A judge raised the bond for a suspended Robeson County high school teacher.

34-year-old Wyvis Oxendine Jr. is accused of sending inappropriate text messages to a student. He was arrested on Tuesday and released after appearing in magistrate court and posting a $100,000 unsecured bond.

On Wednesday, Oxendine and his attorney appeared before the judge who raised his bond to $500,000 and he was returned to the county detention center.

Oxendine is charged with second degree sexual exploitation of a minor, indecent liberties with a student and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office.
