Giant Tech CEOs Challenged During Hearing Before Congress

The chief executives of Meta, TikTok, Snapchat and X, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

A group of social media CEOs were challenged in front of Congress Wednesday regarding the safety of the Nation’s young people.

The chief executives of Meta, TikTok, Snapchat and X, testified before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The hearing got emotional with apologies from a few CEOs after hearing from families of victims that were affected by harm from social media platforms.

The tech titans were forced to answer questions on how their services combat child sexual exploitation online, protect young users’ mental well-being, ensure kids’ data is safe and more.

The hearing is part of the committee’s larger efforts to advance a slate of bills designed to establish new safeguards for young people’s online experiences.

The companies took turns explaining changes they’ve made so far and how they will continue to do more.
