One person was arrested after a vehicle burst into flames.

Police responded to Hughes Boat Landing in the Galivants Ferry area around 11pm on Saturday for reports of a loud party.

24-year-old Michael Wagoner fled the scene in his vehicle when the police arrived. One officer pursued Wagoner in a chase that reached nearly 100mph.

The officer noticed a clear liquid leaking from under Wagoner’s car and smelled gasoline which led to the fire. He stopped at the edge of a wooded area, and fled on foot but police were unable to capture him until they received a tip from someone who knew the suspect.

Wagoner was detained on charges of failure to stop for blue lights and reckless driving. He is being held on a $1,440 bond.
