The U.S. And British Militaries Launched A Strike Against Houthis
The U.S. Air Force’s Mideast command said it struck over 60 targets at 16 sites
The U.S. and British militaries launched a strike against the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen Thursday.
The U.S. Air Force’s Mideast command said it struck over 60 targets at 16 sites including “command-and-control nodes, munitions depots, launching systems, production facilities and air defense radar systems.”
The strikes were reportedly in retaliation as President Biden said they were conducted to demonstrate that the U.S. will not tolerate the militant group’s recurring attacks on vessels traveling through the Red Sea. He noted the attacks endangered U.S. personnel and civilian mariners as well as jeopardized trade.
Biden also said, “I will not hesitate to direct further measures to protect our people and the free flow of international commerce as necessary.”
