Florence County Sheriff’s Office To Temporarily Manage Lake City Police Department

The Lake City Police Department has been without a chief since Jody Cooper resigned at the end of October.

Lake City council members approved a resolution during Wednesday’s meeting.

The Lake City Police Department has been without a chief since Jody Cooper resigned at the end of October.

Council members have now approved a resolution to allow the Florence County Sheriff’s Office to temporarily manage the department amid its search for a new chief.

Florence Capt. Darrin Yarborough has been appointed to take over management responsibility in Lake City for now but, he will remain an employee of the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
