Biden Administration Sues Texas Over Controversial Immigration Law

The DOJ has now requested to block the measure that has sent ripples of fear through the Latino communities in Texas over concerns of racial profiling and more.

The Biden administration filed a lawsuit against the state of Texas over its controversial immigration law.

The ‘Senate Bill 4’ legislation was signed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott last month. The bill would make it a state crime to enter Texas illegally and local law enforcement would have authority to arrest migrants who would be given a choice to leave or serve time. The law is set to take effect in May.

The Biden administration is now suing Texas arguing it “cannot run its own immigration system.” The Justice Department claims the measure undercuts the federal government’s “exclusive authority” to enforce immigration law and ‘SB4’ intrudes on that.
