Woman Arrested For Attempting To Light Officer On Fire
38-year-old Melissa McCoy allegedly actively resisted arrest by "dousing lighter fluid all over the officer and attempted to ignite the officer with a lighter."
A suspect has been charged after assaulting an officer in Dillon County.
On Saturday, an officer with the Latta Police Department was attempting to arrest a suspect for criminal trespassing.
38-year-old Melissa McCoy allegedly actively resisted arrest by “dousing lighter fluid all over the officer and attempted to ignite the officer with a lighter.”
The officers were later able to detain McCoy before an actual fire was started.
McCoy has been charged with trespassing, resisting arrest, threatening the life of a public official and attempted murder. She has been denied bond and remains detained at the Dillon County Detention Center.
The officer is reportedly okay.
