Man Arrested In Connection To Several Robbery Incidents
Lumberton police located the jeep and attempted to stop the suspect who refused and crashed into a parked vehicle.
One man has been arrested in connection to a series of robberies.
The first incident occurred on September 13th, when a man allegedly entered the Smoke City store in Lumberton with a gun and a badge claiming to be an Alcohol Law Enforcement Agent there to conduct an inspection. While inside, he took money and left in a dark-colored jeep.
On October 17th, police responded to Walgreens where a man allegedly went in and stole the cash register before fleeing in a dark-colored jeep as well.
On October 22nd, police were called to Smoke City again after the same person from the first incident came in, pulled out a firearm and demanded money which was given to him before he fled. And another incident occurred at the Lion’s Den on November 6th and at Brandon’s Quick Check on November 20th, where the suspect left in the same vehicle.

49-year-old Bryant Hawthorne attempted to flee the scene on foot prompting a short pursuit that led to his arrest. He was charged with two counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon, two counts of second-degree kidnapping, impersonating a law enforcement officer and many other charges.
