FDA Said Salmonella Outbreak Linked To Cantaloupes Continues To Spread

The cantaloupes have since been recalled and anyone with those brands of pre-cut cantaloupes are urged to throw them out and deep clean any surfaces they may have come in contact with.

An outbreak of salmonella tied to cantaloupe products continues to spread.

As of Thursday, the FDA reported 230 cases of illness in 38 states, including three deaths. Canada has also confirmed 129 cases, including five deaths.

The fruits were grown in mexico and sold pre-cut under the Rudy and Malichita brands. They were sold at Trader Joe’s, Aldi, Walmart, and several other retailers.

The cantaloupes have since been recalled and anyone with those brands of pre-cut cantaloupes are urged to throw them out and deep clean any surfaces they may have come in contact with.

If already ingested you are advised to seek medical attention. Salmonella symptoms typically start six hours to six days after someone swallows the bacteria.
