Plans For Redeveloping The Inlet Square Mall Proceed Forward

The next hoop the plans must jump through is getting a green light from the Horry County Council, where the plan must pass three readings in order to proceed.

The Horry County Administration Committee approved plans for the redevelopment of the Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet.

The establishment has sat basically empty and undeveloped for sometime now, but Tuesday’s meeting was the first official step taken to help with redevelopment.

Paramount Development Corporation has purchased the property and plans to do extensive demolitions and add new buildings as well as site improvements. Plans include developing a series of smaller shops and more.

The company’s Vice President David Harner addressed the Horry County zoning board of appeals last month. He said they hope to demolish and redevelop much of the mall and surrounding parking lots over the next two years, excluding Belk, which will attempt to remain open.

The next hoop the plans must jump through is getting a green light from the Horry County Council, where the plan must pass three readings in order to proceed.

If approved, developers do not have a set timeline for construction.
