Completion Date Set For Surfside Beach Pier Construction

There have been numerous delays in construction and opening of the new pier, but the town is hoping to host a grand opening in May at the start of the busy summer season.

The Surfside Beach Pier now has an official completion date.

The structure has been under construction since it was destroyed during Hurricane Matthew in 2016.

Since then, crews have been working to recreate the pier with a stronger base and upgrades.

Engineers announced Tuesday night that the project pier completion date has been set for January 1st.

There will be a walk through inspection on December 21st to determine how the progress is going with the ADA compliance.
