The FDA Adds Several Brands To Cantaloupe Recall Due To Salmonella
Nearly 100 people in 32 states including South and North Carolina, have gotten sick from the contaminated fruits.
The recall of cantaloupes has expanded after the number of people sickened by salmonella more than doubled last week.
Nearly 100 people in 32 states including South and North Carolina, have gotten sick from the contaminated fruits. Two people have died, and 45 people are hospitalized nationwide.
The FDA’s original recall included Malichita brand whole cantaloupe, Vinyard brand pre-cut cantaloupe and ALDI whole cantaloupe and pre-cut fruit products. On Friday, the FDA added, Rudy brand whole cantaloupes and Freshness Guaranteed brand and RaceTrac brand pre-cut cantaloupes.
Anyone who is in possession of any cantaloupes under these brands is urged to throw them out immediately and wash down all surfaces that may have come in contact with the products.
