U.S. Strikes Iranian-Backed Militia Structures In Self-Defense Response

U.S. forces have been attacked around 66 times since October 7th, including 32 separate times in Iraq and 34 separate times in Syria.

Early Wednesday morning, the U.S. launched a round of airstrikes in Iraq.

On Tuesday, Iran-backed militias conducted an attack using a close-range ballistic missile against U.S. forces stationed at the Al Asad Air Base in Iraq. The attack resulted in multiple non-life threatening injuries and some minor damage to infrastructure.

In response, the U.S. military used an AC-130 aircraft to carry out a self-defense strike against an Iranian-backed militia vehicle and several personnel believed to be involved in the attack.

Pentagon Deputy Press Secretary Sabrina Singh explained the U.S. strike resulted in ‘some’ hostile fatalities, but did not confirm and exact number.

Tuesday’s incident marks the latest in a series of increased assaults against American troops and assets in the Middle East. U.S. forces have been attacked around 66 times since October 7th, including 32 separate times in Iraq and 34 separate times in Syria.
