One Man Arrested After An Hours-Long Barricade Situation

The suspect barricaded himself in the home and threatened to shoot officers if they did not leave him alone.

A barricade situation in Florence ended with the arrest of one man early Wednesday morning.

Around 10:20pm Tuesday night, officers reported to a residence in the 1500 block of Madison Avenue in response to a domestic call.

Upon arrival, police were informed that the man had threatened other people inside the home. The suspect then barricaded himself in the home and threatened to shoot officers if they did not leave him alone.

As the situation unfolded a perimeter was set up and nearby structures were evacuated.

The man finally surrendered to authorities after nearly 5 1/2 hours.

Further details regarding the situation are limited at this time but we do know no injuries were reported.
