CCU’s New Program Aims To Give Qualifying Students Free Tuition

The 'Coastal Commitment' initiative guarantees admission and free tuition to S.C. students who meet the requirements.

Coastal Carolina University is offering free tuition through a new program.

The ‘Coastal Commitment’ initiative guarantees admission and free tuition to S.C. students who graduated in the top 10% of their high school class and whose families have an annual income of less than $80,000.

The program is set to kick off with students coming into the new academic year next fall.

‘Coastal Commitment’ combines existing federal and state aid as well as donor and other institutional scholarships. CCU estimates funding $1 million to support it.

In addition to the free tuition, qualifying students will also receive an invitation to join the HTC honors college without having to submit a separate application.

The university is working to create a website for students to find all the information they need, which they hope to have up and running by the end of the year.
