The world’s newest island has risen from the sea.

The land now sits off the coast of the Japanese island of Iwo Jima in the Pacific Ocean.

Japan’s Meteorological Agency said the unnamed island was formed by an undersea volcanic eruption that took place on October 30th and the land was officially revealed on November 1st.

It sits around 750 miles south of mainland Japan and a kilometer from Iwo Jima. It is now a part of the Ogasawara Island chain.
