Two Robeson County Sheriff’s Deputies Were Shot While On Duty
Deputy Jonathan Walters was shot in the lower body and is in critical but stable condition. Deputy Kaelin Locklear was shot in the upper body and is said to be in stable condition.
Two Robeson County Sheriff’s deputies were injured on Tuesday during an arrest attempt.
Around 9:30a.m. deputies responded to Lois Ann Drive in Maxton to search for Shawn Locklear Jr.. Deputies were forced to pursue him into the woods where he was spotted hiding behind a tree. He was asked to put down his weapons and come out, but instead responded with gunfire.
Deputy Jonathan Walters was shot in the lower body and is in critical but stable condition. Deputy Kaelin Locklear was shot in the upper body and is said to be in stable condition.
The suspect then got into another deputy’s cruiser and ran over an officer while trying to get away. This deputy suffered a broken leg.
The authorities returned gunfire and shot Locklear Jr. several times. He is in critical but stable condition.
When he is released from medical care, along with the charges he already faces, he will face additional serious charges for his actions during this encounter.
