Get Ready to Gobble Up Cheaper Turkey This Year
Wholesale prices for turkey fell 29-percent in October compared to a year ago.
The countdown to Thanksgiving is on and a new forecast on how much your turkey dinner could cost you has been revealed. Wholesale prices for turkey fell 29-percent in October compared to a year ago. That’s according to Wells Fargo’s new Thanksgiving report. It’s good news for farmers and marks a major shift from last year-when a wave of avian flu took out birds, which lead to higher store prices. A robust supply this year, plus a drop in the cost of refrigerated trucks to move supply from farm to store are contributing to the price drop. But, unfortunately the rest of the meal will cost you more. Wells Fargo says canned cranberries cost almost 60% more, canned pumpkin is about 30% higher and russet potatoes are at an all time high.
