The Biden administration is reportedly urging Israel to delay its complete siege of Gaza for the release of hostages held by Hamas.
On Friday, Hamas released American hostages, Judith Raanan and her daughter Natalie Raanan, who were kidnapped in its attack on southern Israel. Their release hints at the possibility that the remaining 200 plus people still held captive could be freed as well.
The administration reportedly pressed Israeli leadership to delay because of progress on the hostage front and the need to get aid into Gaza.
A senior Israeli official denied the rumors of the U.S. seeking to delay its ground incursion because they are in close contact with the U.S. administration and they have not been advised to delay the ground operation.
When President Biden was asked about the rumor, he neither confirmed or denied.
