U.S. Military Intercepted Drones Aimed At Troops Stationed In Iraq

As the conflict escalates between Israel and Hamas, U.S. officials are on alert for potential attacks on American and partner forces in the Middle East.

Early Wednesday morning, the U.S. military intercepted several drones aimed at troops stationed in Iraq.

In western Iraq, U.S. forces engaged two drones, taking one out completely and only damaging the other which resulted in ‘minor injuries’ to forces in the coalition aimed at defeating the Islamic state. In northern Iraq, the American military engaged and destroyed a third drone, resulting in no injuries or damage.

As the conflict escalates between Israel and Hamas, U.S. officials are on alert for potential attacks on American and partner forces in the Middle East.

The attempted drone attacks mark the first on U.S. positions in Iraq in at least nine months. It is unclear who was responsible for the targeted attack.
