Greg speaks with Jason Coker, the President of the Festive Brass of Myrtle Beach about what they do and what they offer as well as some upcoming events. The Festive Brass is now celebrating it’s 25th season and is recognized as the Grand Strand’s Ceremonial Brass Band. The group is comprised of amateur musicians, professional musicians, and gifted students to serve the community by performing annually at Memorial Day and Veteran’s Day Ceremonies for the City of Myrtle Beach and is expanding its vision to support Veterans on a National and International Level.
They have an event coming up on November 5th, The Festive Brass of Myrtle Beach Presents: Liberation!, it’s a celebration of the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.

Also, on November 9th, they are set to provide the music for the City of Myrtle Beach’s WWII Memorial Dedication Ceremony at Warbird Park in Market Common.

On November 11th, they will be a part of the Veteran’s Day Ceremony for the City of Myrtle Beach.

The Festive Brass is also pleased to announce that they have accepted an invitation to perform in the Music Celebrations International Concert Series for the upcoming 80th anniversary of D-Day and the Liberation of France in Normandy, France on June 6, 2024. The group will be traveling together from June 4-12, 2024, and performing 3 times to honor the thousands who paid the ultimate price on Omaha Beach and the surrounding areas. The Festive Brass is proud to be a representative of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and the United States, joining many other ensembles from around the world performing to honor the fallen and do our part to ensure their legacy is remembered.
All contributions to the Festive Brass in 2023 and 2024 will support the Normandy 2024 project and help make it possible for the organization’s volunteer musicians to participate. Contributions are greatly appreciated and can be made at FestiveBrass.org.
