What to Know About Mustard Baths

Move over Epsom, there's a new bath in town.

Many like to unwind at the end of the day with a nice bath, perhaps soaking in Epsom salts for sore muscles.  But why on earth are people adding mustard in their tubs?  And before you make judgment maybe have the faith of a mustard seed! According to Medical News Today, there was a study released in 2020 where they had participants add 3 tablespoons of ground black mustard seeds to a warm bath at 104 degrees for 6 days. The researchers found that t had a beneficial effect on their perceptions of wellness, mood, and sensations of cold.  They think it’s the combination of the warm water and mustard compounds called “glucosinolates” which also may have antibacterial, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
