Ford Issues Recall On Over 238 Thousand Explorers

The recall was placed due to the possibility of the rear axle horizontal mounting bolt breaking causing the driveshaft to disconnect.

Ford has issued a recall on over 238,000 Explorers.

The recall affects some 2020 to 2022 Explorer vehicles. It was placed due to the possibility of the rear axle horizontal mounting bolt breaking causing the driveshaft to disconnect. If that happens, the vehicle may experience a loss of drive power or a vehicle roll-away could occur if the parking break is not applied. Both situations pose the risk of a crash.

Letters to notify owners of the recall are set to be mailed on November 6th. Ford dealers will replace the rear axle bolts and inspect the rear axle cover free of charge.
