U.S. Congressman George Santos Faces 10 New Charges

The 10 new charges include allegations that he charged over $44 thousand to his campaign over a period of months using cards belonging to contributors without their knowledge.

U.S. Congressman George Santos is now facing additional criminal charges that accuse him of stealing money and identities.

In May, Santos was charged with embezzling funds from his campaign and lying to congress about his wealth. The 10 new charges include allegations that he charged over $44 thousand to his campaign over a period of months using cards belonging to contributors without their knowledge. Prosecutors allege that stolen money ended up in his own bank account.

The new charges now bring the total to a 23-count indictment which replaces the one filed in May. Santos has maintained his innocence, insisting he is the victim of a ‘witch hunt’. The 35-year old is set to return to court on October 27th.
