Being a Vegetarian Might Be in Your DNA
New research finds some people may be better suited for the vegetarian lifestyle because of their genetics.
When it comes to getting rid of meat in your diet, is it “mind over matter”? A new study thinks it’s more than that. New research finds some people may be better suited for the vegetarian lifestyle because of their genetics. The study examined data from about 5,300 vegetarians and more than 300,000 meat eaters. The scientists say they discovered three genes significantly linked to choosing a vegetarian diet. They also found another 31 genes but say those are not strongly connected. The scientists add that some of those genes have to do with lipids metabolism and that some of us are just genetically predisposed to find it easy and enjoyable.
