Greg and Audra DIY Halloween with Solar Powered Pumpkins!
All you need are plastic pumpkins, solar stakes, and a drill!
There’s a DIY on social right now that shows several ways to use all the left over plastic pumpkins from last year to turn your yard into a festive October. The easy glowing pumpkin lanterns is a way to light up your driveway. You can use tea lights for a quick party glow or go solar for a lasting light. You can simply drop a tea light or glow stick into the buckets and you’re done. But to take it up a notch, many are using solar garden lights. Greg spotted this DIY tutorial on Instagram. Audra found single solar lights at Lowe’s for about $5 each. The cheap plastic pumpkins work best, but hard to find. We couldn’t find any at Dollar tree, Walmart, and Lowe’s. We settled on the newer style pumpkin buckets which were under $3 each. Greg brought along his drill to do the heavy lifting. Slowly make a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin. Insert the solar stake and you’re done. It takes about 8 hours for a full solar charge. Be sure to remove the plastic film from the batteries.
