Kelvin Kiptum Breaks Men’s Marathon World Record
Kelvin Kiptum completed the race in 2 hours and 35 seconds, nearly three and a half minutes ahead of the other runners.
Kenya’s Kelvin Kiptum broke the men’s marathon world record in Chicago on Sunday.
Running just the third competitive marathon of his career, the 23-year-old shaved 34 seconds off the previous record of 2 hours and 1 minute.
Kiptum completed the race in 2 hours and 35 seconds, nearly three and a half minutes ahead of the other runners. He said he knew he was racing for a course record but he is beyond happy to have set a new world record.
