Authorities Search For Answers After A Cemetery Was Vandalized

Authorities are searching for answers in connection to a vandalized graveyard investigation.
Sometime between September 28th and the 30th a person or multiple people broke into the cemetery belonging to Sweetwater Branch Baptist Church off Highway 544. The gate was broken, most of the monuments were turned over, and 32 headstones were damaged along with several other statues.
Pastor Charles Mixon has served the church for 18 years and wants whoever conducted these actions to know it will not be tolerated. He is also taking measures to ensure this situation does not repeat itself.
Before this, he did not think a cemetery needed to be secured but now they are adding motion-sensor cameras to monitor the area.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the Horry County Police Department.
