National Emergency Alert Test To Be Conducted On Devices At The Same Time

The message will read, “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.”

On Wednesday you can expect an alert to go off on some electronic devices across the country.

The federal government is set to conduct a nationwide test of its Emergency Alert System and Wireless Emergency Alerts. The Emergency Alert portion of the test will send an alerts to all radios and televisions, while the Wireless Alert portion of the test will direct alerts to all consumer cell phones.

Starting at 2:20 pm, all wireless phones should receive an alert with a message that reads, “THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed.” The test will be broadcast by cell towers for nearly 30 minutes. All radios and TV’s will also go off at the same time and the message will last one minute.

The test is to ensure the systems continue to be effective of warning the public about National emergencies.
