Thinking About Work at Night Makes You a Worse Leader in the Morning

Experts recommend taking time to disconnect from and create boundaries from home early on in a career.

Thinking about work when you get home…could make you a worse manager the next day. According to a new study, managers who don’t think about work after hours are less likely to feel drained the following day. Research published in the American Psychological Association found a five percent difference in manager responses on depletion levels could be based on whether they do or don’t focus on work the night before. Researches say that even though five percent may seem small…it does have significance in day-to-day energy levels for work leaders. They recommend taking time to disconnect from and create boundaries from home early on in a career.
