18 States Back Montana’s Efforts To Ban TikTok

TikTok has not yet commented on the state's allies, but a hearing on it's request for a preliminary injunction is set for October 12th.

On Monday, 18 state attorneys general backed Montana’s efforts to ban TikTok.

In May, the app owned by China’s ByteDance, filed a suit seeking to block Montana’s state ban against TikTok. ByteDance argues that it violates the First Amendment free speech rights of the company and users.

All 18 states sided with Montana and said the suits brought by the Chinese-owned short video app and users, should be rejected because TikTok allegedly “intentionally engages in deceptive business practices which induce individuals to share sensitive personal information that can be easily accessed by the Chinese Communist Party.”

TikTok has not yet commented on the state’s allies, but a hearing on it’s request for a preliminary injunction is set for October 12th.
