6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Struck Morocco

Morocco's "King Mohammed VI" has declared three days of mourning and ordered mosques nationwide to hold funeral prayers.

On Friday, a powerful earthquake struck Morocco resulting in many deaths.

The quake shook the region with a magnitude of 6.8 just before an aftershock hit with a magnitude of 4.9.

Over 2,400 were left injured while 2,497 people have been confirmed dead and the toll is expected to continue to rise as search and rescue missions are under-way.

The worst destruction has been in isolated mountain areas which are difficult to access.
