Recognizing The One Year Anniversary Of Queen Elizabeth II’s Death

"In marking the first anniversary of her late majesty's death and my accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us." -King Charles III

September 8th marks the one year anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s death.

The late monarch died peacefully at the age of 96 at her Balmoral Castle months after marking 70 years on the British throne. It is a bittersweet day for the Royal family as they not only acknowledge the Queen’s passing, but also appreciate the first year of King Charles III reign.

The family requested privacy as they get through the day, but King Charles did release an audio message that said, “In marking the first anniversary of her late majesty’s death and my accession, we recall with great affection her long life, devoted service and all she meant to so many of us.” Charles also released a favorite photograph of his mother with the message.

The family has been spotted coming in and out of the beloved royal property in Aberdeenshire where the late Queen annually retreated for a summer break.
