Biden To Visit Hawaii Amid Deadliest Natural Disaster Ever In The State
The death toll has reached 111 and over 1,000 people are still unaccounted for. Rescue crews continue to search through the ashes as flames are still burning.
President Biden and First Lady Dr. Jill Biden are scheduled to travel to Hawaii for the first time since the devastating wildfires first broke out.
The president and his wife will visit Maui on Monday to meet with first responders, survivors, as well as federal, state, and local officers as the deadly wildfires continue to impact the island.
Their appearance comes amid major pressure on the president, though he signed a federal disaster declaration last week, his critics have been commenting on his alleged lack of attention to the wildfires that have become the deadliest in the U.S. in over a century and the deadliest natural disaster in the state’s history.
The death toll has reached 111 and over 1,000 people are still unaccounted for. Rescue crews continue to search through the ashes as flames are still burning.
The White House is taking care to ensure Biden’s visit to Hawaii will not interfere with recovery efforts on the island.
