The suspect is accused of shooting and injuring a person around 2:15p.m. in the area of Buddy Lane off of Highway 707 before fleeing the scene and hiding in the woods with a weapon.

On Friday, Horry County police were able to locate and arrest an armed and dangerous suspect thanks to the assistance of a bloodhound.

The suspect is accused of shooting and injuring a person around 2:15p.m. in the area of Buddy Lane off of Highway 707 before fleeing the scene and hiding in the woods with a weapon.

The bloodhound team was called as they are often used in cases where the department is searching for a person. Bloodhound Reba was the one that ultimately sniffed out a track that led police to the shooting suspect.

During the investigation, residents in the area were urged to stay inside as crews worked and were around for some time.

Traffic on several road ways were temporarily paused and facilities were placed on a lockdown out of caution.

The injured person was taken to a hospital but no additional information is available at this time.
