Two Arrested After Hours Long Standoff
The standoff took place when officers arrived at a home in the 11000 block of Rennert Road to follow up leads in the case.
Two people were arrested on Sunday after an hours long standoff in Robeson County.
21-year-old Trysten Tyler and 36-year-old Kayla Chavis have both been charged with first-degree murder and felony conspiracy in the killing of 18-year-old Michael Thomas.
The victim was found deceased on Friday after officers responded to the 300 block of Erika Road in St. Pauls around 12:45a.m.. Investigators determined that he was killed in the 100 block of Chris Road in Lumber Bridge.
The standoff took place when officers arrived at a home in the 11000 block of Rennert Road to follow up leads in the case. It went on for nearly three hours and ended when authorities deployed a ‘gas agent’ to force the suspects out of the home.
Tyler and Chavis are being held in the Robeson County Detention Center without bond while awaiting a court appearance.
