DOJ Threatens Texas With Legal Action Over Floating Barrier
The floating barrier along with razor wire installed on the riverbank, are the latest efforts Texas has taken to control border crossings by migrants, but the lawmakers deemed the attempts dangerous and cruel.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott could possibly face legal challenges over the floating barriers at the US-Mexico border.
The Justice Department sent a letter to the leader who has until Monday to decide to remove the 1 thousand foot floating barrier that Texas deployed in the Rio Grande near Eagle Pass earlier this month, or face legal challenges.
The letter argues that the floating buoys were set up without permission from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and violates the Rivers and Harbors Act, which prohibits obstructions in U.S. waters.
