‘Early Birds’ Aren’t Just Seniors Anymore!

Apparently a lot of us are turning into early birds!

Apparently a lot of us are turning into early birds!  The Wall Street Journal calls it an emerging trend.   Here’s the skinny on the article.  They explain that restaurants are now seating 10% of customers between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m., up from 5% in 2019.   Restaurants are also closing earlier, because it doesn’t make financial sense to stay open.  Uber says trips to restaurants between 4 – and 5 p.m. are up too.   Even Broadway shows are starting earlier now.   Why are people  shifting from night owls to early birds?  One theory is because it’s become trendier for young people to be healthy, avoid alcohol, and get a full night’s sleep.   Working from home might be another influence.   The reasoning is if you don’t have to drive home to get ready before going out to eat, you can meet up with people earlier.
