Tornado Tore Through Parts Of N.C. Leaving Behind Major Damage

Over a dozen people have been treated for minor injuries in Nash and three people were injured in Edgecombe, two of which sustained life-threatening injuries.

A massive tornado tore through parts of North Carolina on Wednesday leaving many structures damaged.

The Ef-3 tornado was on the ground for 16.5 miles and lasted around 30 minutes, producing peak winds of 150 miles per hour. It traveled through Dortches and Nash Counties, before ending nine miles East-Northeast of Battleboro in Edgecombe County.

Over a dozen people have been treated for minor injuries in Nash and three people were injured in Edgecombe, two of which sustained life-threatening injuries.

Pfizer’s Rocky Mountain facility suffered major damage, but there were no reports of injuries at the plant. The plant is responsible for making a quarter of all sterile injectables used in U.S. hospitals and damage to the structure could potentially worsen the drug shortage across the Nation.

The drug-maker is assessing the damage to determine the impact on production.
