Five people were killed in the small plane crash that occurred in North Myrtle Beach.

The plane took off at 11:02a.m. on Sunday and crashed nearly a minute later. It appears that it’s previous flight was Friday, when it flew from Essex County Airport in New Jersey to Grand Strand Airport in North Myrtle.

The crash happened along Pete Dye Drive that was closed but re-opened on Monday night after authorities worked on the scene.

Four people, including the pilot were found dead on the scene. A fifth person was transported to a hospital where they later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The plane was a PA32R300 model that seats six people, and is considered by aviation as a high-performance single-engine plane. It belonged to Joseph Farneses, but it has not been confirmed if he was piloting the plane or even on it when the crash occurred.

An investigation is still underway.
