Special Counsel To Continue Trump Investigation Though He Has Already Been Charged
Prosecutors accuse him of lying to investigators and attempting to conceal the records from being repossessed by the federal government by storing them in his Mar-A-Lago residence.
The Special Counsel’s Office plans to continue their investigation into Former President Donald Trump’s handling of documents after his presidency ended.
The probe includes grand jury activity in Florida and inquires of witnesses, though it is unclear what aspects of the investigation the prosecutors are still pushing toward.
The historic indictment last month of Trump already shows how he allegedly held onto national defense records and classified information after his time in office ended.
Prosecutors accuse him of lying to investigators and attempting to conceal the records from being repossessed by the federal government by storing them in his Mar-A-Lago residence.
Trump has pleaded not guilty and is expected to head to trail as early as this year.
It is not unusual for investigators to continue asking questions following the filing of initial charges, but Trump’s case is different given his current campaign for the Republican nomination for president.
