Body Of Driver Found Submerged In Water After Crash

The firefighters and divers eventually found the man's body 41 feet away from the road where the crash happened. 

Thursday afternoon, firefighters recovered the body of a man from the water hours after he was involved in a car crash.

The crash occurred Thursday morning on Highway 71 West in the Red Springs area of Robeson County.

The driver of the car ran off the road, struck a sign and hit a culvert before it landed in six feet of water.

One passenger was found in the vehicle and was airlifted to a hospital suffering critical injuries.

First responders spent the day searching the area for the driver and used infrared equipment, but could not find him.
