How Napping Helps Your Brain

Taking daytime naps may help maintain brain health as we age.

Here’s some news you can sleep on.  Taking daytime naps may help maintain brain health as we age.  That’s according to a new study published this week in the journal sleep health.   Researchers from the University College London and the University of the Republic of Uruguay say habitual napping was linked with larger total brain volume.  That in turn, is associated with a lower risk of dementia and other diseases.   Researchers say on average, the difference in brain volume between nappers and non-nappers was equivalent to two-and-a-half to six-and-a-half years of aging.
