Former Corrections Officer Charged For Assault Of Inmate
Ridges is accused of brutally beating him resulting in severe injuries to Joe's head and body, while he was handcuffed and lying on the floor.
A former correctional officer for the Marlboro County Detention Center is now facing charges of assault and misconduct.
On May 3rd, former officer, Morgan Ridges allegedly used excessive force on 30-year-old inmate Eldred Joe.
Ridges is accused of brutally beating him resulting in severe injuries to Joe’s head and body, while he was handcuffed and lying on the floor.
The inmate was then left in handcuffs for 12 hours resulting in injuries to his wrists requiring multiple surgeries and 12 days of hospitalization.
Ridges was fired from his position a few days after the assault and a video captured the moments and revealed he used excessive force on Joe.
Ridges was arrested and has been formally charged with third-degree assault and battery and misconduct. He was released on a $12,500 personal recognizance bond.
