Denver Shooting Possibly Over Altercation Regarding Drugs

Among the people injured was 22-year-old suspect Ricardo Vazquez, who was arrested on a charge of possession of a weapon by a previous offender and possession of a controlled substance.

After the Denver Nuggets won their first NBA Championship against the Miami Heat, a shooting broke out during a celebration nearly a mile from the arena. Nine people were shot and wounded.

Among the injured was 22-year-old suspect Ricardo Vazquez, who was arrested on a charge of possession of a weapon by a previous offender and possession of a controlled substance.

It is believed that five others who were wounded were also possibly involved in the shooting.

Investigators strongly suspect that the gunfire broke out in connection to drugs as police found five handguns and small bags of fentanyl pills, along with large quantities of cash.

33-year-old Raoul Jones was not wounded, but he was also arrested on a charge of possession of a weapon by a previous offender.

The investigation is still on-going to determine who all was involved and what situation led up to the incident.
