Body Recovered After Car Crashed Into Socastee Swing Bridge
Both the bridge and waterway will be closed to vehicle as well as boat traffic for an extended period of time.
A crash resulted in the death of one person and temporary closure of the swing bridge located on Dick Pond Road at the Intercoastal Waterway in Socastee.
First responders were called around 11:30a.m. on Monday to reports of a vehicle in the water.
A body was recovered by the Horry County Fire Rescue’s dive team and towing crews are working to remove the vehicle.
Both the bridge and waterway will be closed to vehicle as well as boat traffic for an extended period of time.
The Horry County Police Department said in a statement, “Please join us in sending hopes for healing and comfort to the family of the individual who passed in this incident.”
